Best Student Bank Accounts

August 15th, 2005

With the A-Level results due soon, there will be the usual scramble for university places from students. Choosing a decent bank and keeping an eye on finances throughout the duration of the course is an important part of planning for university now (gone are the days that being a student meant you could scrounge from the state and had money thrown at you).

The Motley Fool has a run down of things to look for in a student bank account - in particular, it recommends ignoring the gifts that they use to lure students to their accounts, and to concentrate on the overdraft limits that they offer, which if managed correctly can be a cheap form of loan.

Update: The FT.com also has a good write-up on student bank accounts.
