New Coin Designs

British coins are to be redesigned in order for them to reflect modern Britain better. All denominations of the coin, from 1p to 50p, will be redesigned, and the Royal Mint has asked for ideas for designs from members of the public.
It will only be one side of the coin that will be changed, as long as nothing nasty happens to Her Majesty The Queen, Gawd Bless Her! They are to be released in 2008.
In an article on Guardian Unlimited, it says that Anti-Euro groups have jumped on the news in hope that this signals that the U.K. is unlikely to join the European Single Currency.
