NPower Gas & Electricity Price Rises

November 14th, 2005

This winter, supposedly going one of the coldest for a few years, is going to cost consumers a fair bit in heating bills as they attempt to beat the big chill and cope with prices rises by the major power companies.

NPower is the latest to raise it’s prices, putting 14% on electricity and 15% on gas, to begin in January. They’re blaming the increases on the rising wholesale cost of gas.

NPower supply 6 million houses in the U.K., so this will affect a lot of people. It may well be worth seeing if you can switch gas / electricity providers now, using a service such as USwitch, for a provider that promises not to raise their charges (if such a company exists - I’ll do some digging).
