Shares: Winners & Losers in 2005

December 19th, 2005

As we come to the end of the year, The Motley Fool has published a couple of articles showing the best performing and the worst performing shares in 2005.

The shares are taken from the FTSE All-Share Index and the AIM, and the 2 lists are largely filled with companies most of us share-trading novices are unlikely to have heard of.

So which shares should we have bought at the start of the year? Unsurprisingly, the boom in the price of oil helped several of the companies become the best performers.

The list of worst performing shares is more diverse, with record-label Sanctuary securing itself an unwanted Number 1, and also including photographic outlet Jessops as a poor performer.
