Sneaky Orange Mobile Phone Bill Charges

June 27th, 2006

I’ve just been checking out my latest mobile phone bill (I’m an Orange customer), and I noticed that they are going to charge for itemised billing from 1st July 2006.

From July 2006 you have the choice of receiving a fully itemised bill that lists all your call details. To receive the full list of all your calls you don’t need to do anything, and the monthly charge will be automatically applied to your bill.

Well that’s just lovely of them isn’t it - making it simple for me to pay for something that I was getting for free before. I also wonder how many people will actually see this warning? £18 per year multiplied by a few thousand people adds up to a nice little earner for Orange for doing absolutely nothing.

If you just want to make sure that you get the free summary bill, you can text BILL to 2018 or call 150 from your Orange phone. And if you want to see the full list of your calls without having to pay, you can get them online at the Orange website.
