LV= Launch Car Insurance iPhone App

LV=  have released an iPhone app with a variety of functions to help UK drivers.

With LV=’s My Car app, you can set up reminders for the renewal of your car tax, insurance and MOT, check out the latest traffic reports and search for points of interest, petrol stations and car parks.

The app also gives you a checklist of things you need to do in the event of an accident, and of course, if you’re an LV= car insurance customer, it will help you get in touch with LV= to make a claim. You can also submit the claim through the app, and a claims handler should get back to you within 24 hours.

Both AXA and MoreThan released similar apps quite a while ago, and I said at the time that I didn’t feel the functionality was really suited to being an app. It felt like they were desperately trying to find a reason to develop an iPhone app because it was the in thing to do.

Because we should only ever have a handful of car accidents in our lifetime, this doesn’t seem to justify the need for an app, but at least LV= have included a few features that make the app more worthwhile.
