Wine: An Alternative Investment

A very brief time ago I made a short post about the value of Batman memorabilia and the possibility of using it as an alternative investment vehicle. Well, here’s another alternative investment which might be even more fun; wine.
The Scotsman’s basic advice for investing in wine are:
- Buy in 12-bottle cases
- Retain the original packaging
- Store “in bond” to avoid paying excise duty or VAT
- Choose only wines with a known auction room appeal and from top vintages.
Of course, with all that fine wine lying about collecting dust, the temptation to test one of your investments may become too great…
