It’s a sign that we’re coming to the end of the year as a few personal finance bloggers are starting to post about their financial goals for next year.
With that in mind, here are my financial goals for 2009, in no particular order:
- Stay out of overdraft – I must have gone into my overdraft every month for the last 18 months, so it would be good to get into the situation where I had a permanently positive balance on my bank account. By using my overdraft I am incurring added interest, and of course risking further fees should I go over my agreed amount (which thankfully is yet to happen).
- Pay for a wedding without big debt – although our wedding is only 6 months away, we are paying off chunks of the overall cost quite regularly, which is helping avoid putting the cost either on credit cards or taking out any loans. Hopefully we can keep it that way.
- Increase income – whilst it would be lovely to think I will get a pay rise in my day job, it is sadly a little unlikely, especially with things as they are in the financial industry. I must therefore look to increase my income from other activities, such as blogging. As well as this blog, I’m looking for opportunities from starting other online businesses or by helping exisiting online ventures. (By the way, Plonkee has mentioned a few sources of income on the side in her latest post).
Those are the first three goals I’ve come up with, but there may well be some more to come.
