Remember I asked how long my car insurance no claims discount lasts after I cancel my policy?
Well, I’ve finally got round to ringing eSure to both cancel my policy and find out the answer to my question, and they say that it’s 2 years. I’m not sure whether this is an “industry standard” or whether it depends on the insurer, though.
What it means is that if I don’t take out car insurance in the next 2 years I’ll probably end up paying quite a bit more. I’ve just done some quotes on Moneysupermarket with both 6 years no claims and without, and the quote with the NCD is about 50% of that without.
Indeed, on my “Renewal Invitation” (nicely put), eSure say they’d give me a 71% discount based on my no claims history, so that shows you just how much cheaper car insurance can be if you can drive for a few years without getting into any accidents.
