Nearly 3 million new £1 coins featuring King Charles’ head are due to go into circulation this week.
The new pound coins are being sent to banks and Post Offices to begin circulating, and will shortly begin appearing in tills and then pockets nationwide.
As well as the King’s head, the £1 coin also features a bee on the reverse of the coin. The other coins to feature the King’s head will have the following designs on the reverse:

Following the reveal of the designs, production of the coins began with several million produced by The Royal Mint in South Wales. The Atlantic Salmon 50p was the first of the eight designs to enter circulation at the end of last year.
