Amazon Price Tracker

CamelCamelCamel

We may be almost a couple of months away from Christmas, but there’s a good chance that you’re already started to think about the presents you’ll be buying and where to get them from for the best price.

Amazon can often be one of the best places to start your search online, but did you know that there’s also a tool that will tell you when the items you’re after from Amazon have dropped in price. Here’s an example using the HTC Desire S mobile phone.

The rediculously named but simple site CamelCamelCamel.com shows you the top price drops (either in £ or % of the price) each day or week, but more importantly, if you enter an Amazon URL of the item you’re really interested in, you can then sign up to receive an email, a Tweet or follow an RSS feed which all let you know when the price drops to a level that you’d be interested in paying.

You can also see how the price of the item has changed over time via a graph, and it even lets you know what price you’ll pay for it at one of Amazon’s third-party partner sites.

You can search for products on the site, but the filter functions aren’t as sophisticated as on the Amazon site itself, so we’d recommend going to Amazon first and finding the web address of the item you wish to buy before heading over to CamelCamelCamel.

However, it’s worth knowing that CamelCamelCamel also has a browser plugin available for Firefox and Chrome, which enables you to easily see the price history when you’re on the Amazon site itself. Here’s it in action on Google Chrome (click for a larger image):
