House Sellers “Strip Homes”

If you’re in the process of buying a new home like myself, it’s important to ascertain exactly which fixtures and fittings are going to be left by the seller when you move into your new house.

Halifax Estate Agency has revealed the results of a survey which suggests that many home sellers strip their old properties of anything of value before they leave.

25% of sellers admitted to digging up garden plants, others removed light fittings, and some had even taken the light bulbs.

To avoid any nasty shocks, the key is to get written confirmation of what will be left by the seller before you exchange contracts. Once exchange happens, there is little that can be done about it.
