Discount voucher website vouchercloud has announced the launch of Europe’s first completely digital gifting app and website, which it hopes will disrupt the entire gifting market; in particular the £5bn gift card sector. Giftcloud will allow users instant access to digital gift cards from some of the UK’s retail giants, which can then be sent immediately via text, email or Facebook.
Giftcloud already has the backing of leading retailers such as House of Fraser, Debenhams, Currys PC World, Ticketmaster, eHarmony, Cineworld, Starbucks and restaurant chains Pizza Express, ASK Italian and Zizzi.
The platform allows users to gift digital gift cards via the website or the app within a matter of minutes. This new technology will provide an instant gifting solution and streamline the entire gifting process, covering all occasions and celebrations and replacing those unwanted gifts with the element of choice.
Once a user has decided which brand the recipient of their gift would prefer, they can select their chosen gift amount and attach it to an accompanying e greetings-card from a pre-loaded template or even upload a photo, with the option to add a personal message to the recipient. The platform also has the ability to track when the gift is opened, so users can be sure that the recipient has received their gift.
The digital gift cards can be redeemed online or in-store, with a number of retailers and restaurants also offering the user the option to redeem the gift card at the till point via their smartphone.
Users can schedule gift cards to be sent on any date and time of choice. Users can also link Giftcloud to Facebook accounts to receive birthday reminders to ensure none are missed; converting those ‘Happy Birthday’ wall posts on Facebook into gift if the user should so wish.
