Encouraging Pension Figures

The BBC reports the findings of a Clerical Medical study which shows that pensioners are twice as well-off financially now as they were back in 1979.

Surprisingly, considering the developing UK pensions crisis, the period 1999 to 2004 has seen strong growth in pensioner incomes, largely attributed to people saving in their own pensions, either through personal pensions or workplace schemes.

The study also found that the gap between pensioner incomes and the working population is also becoming narrower.

These figures would appear to buck the trend of all the talk of a pensions crisis.
