Noddle is a new website from credit rating agency Callcredit which promises a free credit report “for life”.
So what’s the catch?
Well, first of all, there are 3 main credit reference agencies, Experian, Equifax and Callcredit, with the latter, the provider of Noddle, being the smallest agency. This means that they can’t provide a full view of your credit score. For this, you’ll need to consult with each agency, but at least the free report from Noddle should give you a basic idea of your credit worthiness.
Also, Noddle reserves the right to cancel your account if you do not login for a 3 month period. And the reason they want you to login is to try to sell you other credit-related products, such as credit cards and personal loans – this is how they can afford to offer credit reports for free.
At present Noddle are adding customers on a phased basis, but you can register your interest and they’ll notify you when they’re able to provide you with a report.
This is a great idea! I actually subscribed (stupidly) to what I thought was a free credit reporting service, only to find out that I was being being 8,95 on a monthly basis. Needless to say, I cancelled immediately, but still was really pissed off. If this is truly free, its a wonderful idea.
This will definately come in handy. In combination with Experien’s 30 day trial, there will never be a need to pay for credit reports.
