The deadline for tax self-assessment forms is to be brought forward by 4 months, it was announced in Gordon Brown’s budget this week, but not until 2008.
The move has been made to try to get more people to file their tax returns electronically, so the forms will have to be returned by Spetember 30th. The current deadline is January 31st. If you do decide to file your returns electonically, you will have until 30th November to complete it.
As I say, these changes do not come into effect until 2008, so consider this an early warning so that you don’t get caught out with late tax returns in the future.
