Following on from yesterday’s announcement of 2,100 job losses worldwide, of which it now appears that 500 will be in the U.K., Barclays has announced another 2,100 job cuts, this time in its retail and commercial banking divisions, all of which will be from the U.K..
Barclays Planning 2,100 Redundancies
It looks like Barclays is planning at least 2,100 job cuts worldwide, equating to 7% of its workforce.
The details are a little sketchy at the moment, so it’s unclear how many of these jobs will go from the U.K., but these job losses join the 400 redundancies announced by Barclays a couple of weeks ago.

Following on from my post yesterday about the Icesave compensation process, the first emails have started to arrive, and the following, for those who may be interested, is the text from the email.
Icesave Compensation Process Starting
It appears that the process put in place to compensate Icesave customers is kicking off this week as was hoped.
Here’s a breakdown of how the process should work.
Icesave Compensation: By 30th November
Savers with Icesave who have had their accounts frozen may be “pleased” to find out that their compensation payment is set to be sorted out by 30th November 2008.
The Government has said that every UK Icesave saver will get their money back in full, and the majority of this should be paid by the end of November. Here we look at the process for receiving compensation.
